From HRC Knollegruun in Schoonloo you ride into nature within minutes. We are located in the middle of Boswachterij Schoonloo, part of the vast nature area 'Hart van Drenthe', with kilometres of bridle paths straight from our grounds.
Whether you are experienced or have never sat on a horse: guided by a qualified instructor, everyone enjoys this unique surrounding.
Ancient hunebeds
Drenthe has the most hunebeds in the Netherlands. On trail rides in the area you pass these thousands-of-years-old megalithic tombs — history you will not experience this close anywhere else.
Wide heathland
A little further on, the forests give way to open heath — coloured purple in summer. A completely different feeling from riding between the trees, and typically Drenthe.
Peace and space
No traffic, no crowds — just you, your horse and the sound of hooves on sand. Drenthe is one of the least densely populated provinces in the Netherlands, and you notice that on every trail ride.

Every trail ride is led by a qualified instructor, so no experience is needed — beginners are just as welcome as advanced riders. You choose how long you want to be out: 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hours through the Drenthe countryside.
Sturdy footwear with a heel and a riding hat are mandatory; we have a limited number of hats and boots to borrow. The maximum rider weight is 95 kg.

Yes, for the welfare of our horses we apply a maximum rider weight of 95 kg.
Where does a trail ride start and how do I get there?
Every trail ride departs straight from our grounds at Hoofdstraat 33 in Schoonloo, in the middle of Boswachterij Schoonloo. Please make sure you arrive at least half an hour before departure.
